After reading a thread earlier I went and made a grimsnes since the myron I used to run is now not possible to use do to the numbers that they have adjusted. Had the numbers to put the best active armor hardener, 2 complex armor plating, a complex armor rep, complex shield booster, a malitia passive shield resistance, and 2 advanced baster turrets. Could run a better passive shield resistance but don't have the skills in it yet.
If I had not made a bad turn it would have been really hard to take me down. I was flying the 5 point map. Made half a loop lost all my shields and 1/3 of my armor by the time I was back around to a full loop I was at full everything again. Made two more loops and made a bad turn hit the tower you can't fly over and went down. I think this is one of the best fits I have made for my grimsnes. Would like to see others.
The reason I use blasters is for using it as an actual drop ship. The missiles are still barely usable on a dropship, and I just see a black hawk lowering into pick up altitude and unloading a 50 Cal machine gun into incoming tangos. I want to teach my gunners how to use them effectively in real hot spots. My goal is to become a hot zone pick up and drop off pilot, also the reason I am running active hardeners so I can cut them on get people or drop them off and get out before I go boom.
In comparison I have found shields to be easier to maintain do to only really using one active module, but being over all weaker and takes longer to get back up to full life. also you have to find a logi or a supply depot to get back to full life. Weaker against rails and forges, but stronger against swarms you more common AV weapon.
The armor though given the PG it can run armor rep and a shield booster, so you can get yourself up without having to go to people or needing to land in the map to back to full life. I fly behind mountains activate my rep and my booster and wait 20 secs then I am back in the air. So given all these active mods you have to activate and still fly it can be harder to fly. Also it is better against forges and rails, but weaker to swarms which is your usual weapon being shot at you. |
